EVESHAM’S MP Nigel Huddleston has invited Prime Minister David Cameron to the Vale for the upcoming Asparagus Festival celebrations.
The Mid Worcestershire MP expressed his hope Mr Cameron would visit the iconic festival and meet characters such as Gus the Asparagus Man during Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) on Wednesday (April 13)
His question received a warm response from the Prime Minister who said: “I am happy to say that my Hon Friend is only one constituency away.
“We share the same railway line, so if there’s any opportunity to have some great British asparagus I’d be happy to join him.”
Following PMQs, Mr Huddleston said: “The Vale of Evesham is proud to be one of the biggest and most well-known producers of asparagus in the country.
“I hope the Prime Minister will be able to join us at some point during this year’s festivities.”
This year’s festival gets underway next Saturday (April 23).
