Our four-legged friends have their day at charity dog show

HUNDREDS of dog owners flocked to The Valley’s showground last weekend as their four-legged friends competed in a charity dog show.

The event was organised by kind-hearted local residents Julie Young and Mary Jones, whose passion for dogs has led them to setting themselves the challenge of raising £10,000 for Dog’s Trust Evesham, with the duo raising £4,500 from their charity dog show.

Staff at the Dog’s Trust will now be able to buy much-needed equipment for the training rooms at the trust’s rehoming centre in Wickhamford.

At the charity event last Sunday (July 17), dogs competed to get their paws on the title of most handsome dog, best puppy, best trick and the coveted best in show.

Julie Young, one of the event organisers, said: “We were overwhelmed by the response from the public. It was so uplifting to see so many different gorgeous breeds from Poodles to Beagles and Huskies to Yorkshire Terriers.

“I must say a big thank you to all those that volunteered their time to help out, the businesses that contributed generously with many raffle prizes, and especially to the brand new pet store at The Valley, Bessie & Boo who were the main sponsors of the show.

“We have raised over £4,500 today, which helps us well on the way to reaching our target of £10,000.”
