Evesham Editorial 10th Apr, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

THE COUNTDOWN to the Vale’s first Truck Show begins in earnest as the heavyweight vehicles begin to roll into town.

A lorry will be making a pit-stop at Tesco on Worcester Road this weekend (April 11 and 12) meaning truck enthusiasts and children to take to the seat of the impressive juggernaut.

The event will also be a chance to raise funds for Olivia’s dream, the eight-year-old girl from Evesham who suffered heart failure before birth and hopes to one day walk unaided by receiving special treatment through community support and awareness.

Tesco Community Champion, Vicki Anderson said: “It will give be an opportunity for the community to see inside and sit in the Lorry and it will be great for the children to see.”

Event organiser, Lisa Beafley said: “We are on site at Tesco’s for the whole weekend to promote our show and help raise funds for Olivia’s dream and we will have our lovely vehicle their for kids to get in the drivers seat and experience what a lot of kids don’t have chance to do.

“Tesco’s have very kindly donated a lovely raffle prize for the weekend to raise money for Olivia and we are hoping to sell some tickets over the weekend for people that can’t come to the show.

“We have organised for Elsa from ‘Frozen’ to come and meet the children on the Saturday for a couple of hours and we also have the Mayor of Evesham coming along to open the show to the public for Truckfest.

“This is the first year we have done this so we are hoping the local people of Evesham will support us and we have people from all over the country coming to show off their lorries in their full glory, it is set to be amazing, especially at

night with all the lights.”

There will be awards for the best overall truck and best working truck and the Fleece Inn will be on hand for a beer and ale festival with live entertainment throughout the day and evening.

Local charities including Mezzo Dance Company, Evesham Sea Cadets and the German Shepherd Elite will also be performing over the weekend and raising cash for their organisations.
