Council chiefs rallying call on how to spend New Homes Bonus cash

A RALLYING call has been made by Evesham Town Council urging residents to come forward with project ideas which could be funded through New Homes Bonus money.

Council chiefs have £175,000 to spend on projects which will benefit the community using funds from the New Homes Bonus pot of cash- money handed to the Town Council from the Government for the number of houses that have been built and occupied in Evesham.

It’s now hoped residents will come forward with ideas on how the cash could be spent. The Town Council is looking for larger projects which will need at least £10,000.

There are some projects that the cash can not be used for including; projects which have nearly been completed before an application is submitted, day-to-day running costs of organisations, political or religious activities or school projects.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 25 when all projects will be considered by the Town Council who will then decide whether or not to take them through the public consultation stage to demonstrate there is community support for the project.

If successful, Wychavon District Council will then have the final say on projects which will be given New Homes Bonus money.

An application form is available from Town Clerk Stuart Carter by emailing [email protected] or by calling 01386 443322.
