A FORMER Olympic coach from Fladbury has invited the American Ambassador to visit the Vale as part of his ongoing effort to combat climate change.

David Train – a former Olympic canoe coach – recently sent a letter to Matthew Burzan, asking him to visit Fladbury CE First School and Pershore High School to help youngsters understand climate change and how to tackle it.

Mr Burzan recently spoke of the ‘special relationship’ between the US and Britain on tackling climate change, which provoked Mr Train to give a speech to the Fladbury Royal British Legion Women’s Section on the history of Fladbury Paddle Club’s commitment to combating climate change.

It inspired the woman and Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston to write to Prince Charles, asking him to invite the American Ambassador to name a bell boat, ‘Spirit of the United States and the Climate Revolution’ in London.

Ultimately, Mr Train would like to inspire US President Barack Obama to sign a Paddle for Life.

“The whole world would be made aware of what we have developed in Worcestershire, and would be on board to tackle what the world’s leaders agreed in Paris is the greatest problem facing humanity,” said Mr Train.
