Bretforton getting set for first ever BretFest

MUSIC lovers are being invited to the first Bretfest and to celebrate the music and arts.

The event will make its debut from tomorrow (Saturday) until July 18 and promises a busy time for the picturesque village of Bretforton.

Starting on the recreation ground, a village fete kicks the whole week off with performances from Bretforton Silver Band, Glamba and an evening performance by the John Wood Big Band.

Many events are planned throughout the village with concerts and exhibitions taking place at the Fleece, St Leonards Church,the Memorial Hall and Bretforton Manor.




John Wood, musical director of Bretforton Silver Band said it promises to be a fantastic week which has something for all tastes.

“We are very grateful to Mr and Mrs Chambers for permission to use Bretforton Manor for two of the concerts which on the Sunday will feature internationally renowned concert pianist Marcel Zidani,” he said.


“He will be joined by the wonderful violinist Michael Bochmann and on Friday again at the Manor Marcel will be joined by local cornet player Paul Wood for a concert entitled Piano, Cornet with a Cuban twist.”

The whole week of festivities finishes with the ever popular Bretforton Prom next Saturday (July 18) with a fantastic musical firework display from G Force Fireworks.

The Last Night of the Proms event is free of charge and visitors are iinvited to bring their picnics, chairs and tables and enjoy a relaxed evening of traditional family entertainment.

Entrance for the public will be from 10am next Saturday.
