YOUNGSTERS from two Pinvin schools dressed up as their favourite book characters to celebrate World Book Day.

Pupils from Pinvin CE First School and St Nicholas CE Middle School turned up as characters including ‘Mr Stink’ and ‘Gangsta Granny’ on Thursday (March 3) as part of the celebrations.

There was a book themed quiz and a 15 minute ‘drop everything and read’ session, where the school bell signalled all classes to stop their lessons and take part.

Both schools rewarded winners for the most unique and impressive fancy dress with book tokens.

Bex Chatterton, assistant head and literacy co-ordinator said: “A group of Year 6 and Year 7 pupils went over to the first school to work with Year 1 and Year 2 pupils and shared a picture book with them. It was a wonderful experience to witness.

“Some pupils wrote book reviews to share with their friends, whilst others watched online videos narrated by famous authors giving advice on their craft.”
