AN ART exhibition inspired by Pershore and its surrounding area is on display in the town.
Pershore Arts, in conjunction with Wychavon District Council, is presenting the exhibition of drawings, paintings and photographs from Monday (October 5) to Saturday October, 31 at the town’s library.
Following the success of last year’s art project focusing on the town’s Avon Meadows wetlands, it was suggested by exhibition goers that they would like to see more of the Pershore area.
As a result, members of Pershore Arts have been imaginative and created aspects of Pershore and its surroundings for all residents to explore and enjoy.
Frans Swarte, Chairman of Pershore Arts said: “It became clear during the last exhibition people would be interested in seeing a wider perspective of where we live and there was an opportunity to promote the town not only as a great place to live, but also as a local tourist attraction.
“We have about 12 artists who have taken part in this project and they’ve created nearly 30 pieces of work that cover examples of architecture, events and beauty spots.”
Sue Farr, one of the artists taking part said: “Having signed up for this exhibition, I found myself at three in the morning wondering what on earth to submit.
“The notion of photographing the people of Pershore came to me and the more I thought about it, the more appropriate and exciting it seemed.
“Shop workers and market traders were ideal subjects and I envisaged creating a visual tribute to the people who help keep the heart of the town ticking.”
