MORE than 1,000 jobs could be created in Evesham following the submission of a planning application for the proposed 50-acre ‘Avon Business Park’.
Property developer St. Modwen has recently submitted an outline planning application to Wychavon District Council for the new major employment development site, which would adjoin the existing Vale Business Park in the south of the town.
The 585,000 sq ft of space would comprise of warehouses, industrial units and offices, together with supporting uses including a pub, restaurant, hotel and car showroom.
Structural landscaping and planting will also be brought forward as part of the development.
The plans follow a public consultation held last November, where the local community were able to take a closer look at the proposals and submit comments.
The response was positive at the event, with visitors welcoming the increased job opportunities and investment in the town.
As part of the development, St Modwen would also create a new site access through the realignment of the existing roundabout on the A46.
Peter Rudd, development director at St. Modwen, said: “Following our Joint Venture agreement in 2013 with the landowners, we were successful in getting the land allocated as an employment site in the recently adopted South Worcestershire Development Plan.
“We’ve now followed this up with an outline planning application for a large employment-led scheme, including a new site entrance and landscaping.
“The proposed scheme represents significant investment in Evesham, creating new business premises and around 1,000 job opportunities in a high profile location, whilst providing excellent transport links for potential occupiers via the A46 and the M5.
“We’ve already received some occupier interest before formal marketing of the site begins, which bodes well for the future delivery of the site.”
