POPULAR singer-songwriter and R’n’b legend Ruby Turner is getting set to take to the stage at The Regal Cinema.

For many years the singer-songwriter has been regarded as having one of the greatest voices the UK has ever produced, after her first album, “Women Hold Up Half The Sky”, was released to critical acclaim in 1986.

This album featured songs including ‘If You’re Ready (Come Go With Me)’, ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ and the number 1 single, ‘It’s Gonna Be Alright’.

Turner is also known for smash hits including ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’.

Having performed alongside the likes of The Four Tops, The Temptations, Jimmy Ruffin, Jools Holland, Mick Jagger, Steve Winwood and Brian Ferry, many of Ruby’s songs have also been covered by artists such as Lulu, Yazz and Max Priest.

Live Events Manager, Laurence Wiper, said; “Ruby’s career to date has been sensational with major tours, film, TV and theatre appearances and we are thrilled to be welcoming her to our stage for the first time!

“After her tour with Jools Holland at the end of last year, she is now on the road again with her own band and we’re really excited about her show at The Regal this May,” he added.

Doors open at 7pm for the show on Saturday, May 21 which will begin at 8pm.

Tickets are available from £20 each and are on sale now online at www.theregal.ac or by calling box office on 01386 421007.
