PERSHORE’s Number 8 Community Arts Centre will be full of laughter at the end of the month when an anticipated show by one of the nation’s most loved comedy groups is screened.
For the first time in more than three decades, comedy legends Monty Python are performing live on stage together.
And Pershore residents can see their return when the town’s popular High Street venue screens one of the live shows titled ‘Monty Python Live (mostly)’ from London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday (July 30) starting at 7pm.
At a combined age of just 358, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin will once again perform some of their greatest hits, with modern, topical, Pythonesque twists.
Monty Python are rightfully regarded among the world’s finest-ever comedians who are renowned for influencing a generation and revolutionised comedy. Their eagerly awaited reunion promises to be among the biggest live events of the year.
Tickets for the first reunion performance at the start of the month sold out in a record 43.5 seconds. A further four extra dates (2 – 5 July) went on sale immediately and sold out soon afterwards due to their popularity in the comedy world.
John Cleese said: “The response to our planned reunion has been very, very silly. But, we’re all touched that so many fans still want to see such old people perform.”
Tickets for the screening cost £15 for adults, £12 for senior citizens and £10 for those aged 16 or under. They can be purchased by visiting www.number8.org/ or by calling the Pershore Number 8 Box Office on 01386 555488.
