Extra town date for Rick Wakeman

Evesham Editorial 19th Mar, 2016 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

ROCK legend Rick Wakeman has added a second Evesham date to his tour after tickets for the first night sold in record time.

Wakeman will now take to the stage at the Regal cinema for a second night on Friday, June 3 for his one-man show.

The former Yes keyboard player has led a rich and varied life and will recounts hilarious and unlikely anecdotes from a career that has included musical collaborations with David Bowie, Cat Stevens, Black Sabbath and Elton John.

Tales of worldwide tours with his own bands, punctuated by displays of dazzling virtuosity on the piano, will complete an evening to remember.

Amongst old favourites, Rick will be performing a new arrangement of David Bowie’s Space Oddity as Rick played as a session musician on the original 1969 version.

He will also play an instrumental version of Life On Mars, a single he has recently released in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and in tribute to Bowie, his much-loved friend and musical colleague.

Laurence Wiper, Live Events Manager, said; “We’re huge fans of Rick Wakeman and thoroughly enjoyed his last sold out show with us in 2014.

“We were thrilled that Rick proposed a second night at The Regal this summer and do hope that anyone who missed out on tickets to the first night will be able to join us on June 3,” he added.

Doors open at 7pm on the night ahead of an 8pm start.

Tickets are available from £25 each and are on sale now at www.theregal.ac or from the box office on 01386 421007.
